Dawn Will Make a Good Sis

When I see how Dawn looks after her younger cousins, I knew that she would make for a good older sister.

She just .. likes to do things for others. And that includes helping me wearing my shoes. Yes yes, she actually rushes to me when I wear my sandals and she would pull the back strap for my leg to go in. LOL.

And here's a picture of her feeding her cousin with ice cream.
And that brings us to another topic.

Why not have a second child?

You think we don't want ah.

Things just work this way sometimes... the more you want something, the further it shall be... and when you do not want something, it just comes to you straight at your face.

We should just relax.... but be proactive at times. Don't just keep rushing for something and you lose sight of others.

It will be great if the second one comes along that's not too far from Dawn's age. I mean, you wouldn't want a age gap of 14 years and more when it comes to your children right? By then it's not just them, it's about the parents. Their health will definitely take on a toll. Alright, better not digress.

加油 to those who are trying hard! :D

Pacific Rim

The best movie in my life ... till now, has got to be Pacific Rim. Just plain robots, action and thrill. Romance is little and I like the pace it goes. All the technical stuff and terms they used just makes this a film that all boys should watch.

It's just so nice that we have to plaster our storeroom door with this.

To Fight Monsters, We Created Monsters.

Cafe Cartel and Coin Banks

That's my girl with a super huge coin bank in bottom form from Cafe Cartel. Every 20$ gets you one.

(I can't help but to LOL everytime I play the video... there's a part where she seems like she's tired of smiling at the camera. And .. the fake smile. LOL.)

Their menu has changed over the years and I can't really decide if it has gone better or worst. The free flow bread and their juicy sinful butter has stopped and the garlic bread is like chao tah. The soup ... just feels like it's instant stuff.

There are a few new dishes but I have not yet try them. My stomach always seems to be full whenever I stepped into their restaurant. It's either I'm bloated or I just didn't have the appetite. :(

But one thing to say is... their garlic creamy mussels is 一级棒。 I don't have a high standard for my food so when I say it's nice , it may not be the same for others.

There's GARLIC in the sauce... and it's not too creamy. I could even take a spoon and savor the sauce till it's almost gone. And the mussels.... they are of decent size. :D Nothing to complain about.

Nice 不 nice?

Apart from that I had the cake set too!

I chose Chamomile tea to go with it. Not bad leh. This is Tiramisu Cheesecake. Cake set at $6.40

And if you add another $1, you can grab their soup (with 2 other choices but you choose 1 only)

Artistic !!! Looks like a tree with branches and flowers.

On the whole it is still a decent restaurant and I'll definitely return... for their cake sets. :P

2nd Visit At Tsukada Nojo

Ta da! Second visit at this Japanese Restaurant!

This time we Q-ed up at 430pm and already we were made to be in the waiting list. T_T" I saw that we were 3rd on the list, so , phew! It seems like we do not have to wait long! At 6pm we managed to get seated.

Just have to.

I got promoted! Manager liao leh!

Pork onigiri. Not bad, but easy to get full just by eating this small-but-deadly-item.

Fresh ingredients. Waitress cooked for us too! $25 per pax and still get served... not bad leh! Last time we had suki yaki at Tokyo was $70 per pax! But of course the ambiance and service cannot fight with what we have here. It's authentic in Japan. The petite Japanese waitress waited on us from top to toe... I mean, our shoes as well, and our tummy too.

Pinky, our waitress said, these comes from our HEART. Awwwwww... I was telling my hubby that the seaweed paste looked like underwear. LOL.

When you are promoted, you have a free appetizer!

And here comes our free dessert! What a nice gesture! But... the chick was ruined in my hand.

Before..

After!

And this is worth mentioning! It's not too sweet and the sugar on top is just so crunchy and doesn't leave the sticky feeling in your molars! but... not cheap. $5 per serving.

Satisfied diner. :D Got all the collagen in me!

By the way if you do not know, the restaurant serves the famous Bijin Nabe, so called, the 美人锅 that's full of collagen in their soup. The collagen comes from chickens. And they only serve the hot pot for dinners.

Random Good Buys

Look what I got the other day!

All for just $30! Got brand some more ok? LOL.

Seriously ah, there will come to a point when suddenly you feel that there is no need to splurge on pricey items when you can buy a few of those at those less branded shops.

But, there is one thing that I will splurge on.... cos there's just no way to get cheaper alternatives. And that is, BRAS. You just gotta get the right fit and size and the ommph. LOL.

All these for just $6!!!! Wah, can find any lower or not?!

And these ..... ommphs. LOL
Luckily these are on sale! So, it's 2 for $60!!! From La Senza!

And this! Lowry's Farm tote bag! I'm much more interested in the free tote bag that comes with purchase! There's a side pocket that lets you put coins or tissue paper! So handy leh!

And this.. is a rather good buy. Sound bar at Courts for just $359! My husband and I were actually looking at Samsung models since we are Samsung lovers for electrical appliances... but it was OOS. T_T"  And this was cheaper by $40 ! LOL. BUY!
(FYI, we saved up for many months before getting a sound bar for our house of nearly 2yrs old. I don't want people that I do not know personally to assume that we are rich and splurge on unnecessary stuff. No, we are not rich. Thank you.)

And this cake... along with another one, was sold to us at 2 for $3! Look at the size of this chocolate cake!!!! Super huge! I got this from  the bakery shop nearest to Punggol Interchange. I think it was The Royal Buns or something like that. But it's not everyday that they have slices of cake for sale. Depends on luck.

Alrighty, gotta end this here for now. Will post more when I do come across of more good buys!

Cheated, Again

The last incident took place like less than a month ago and then the same thing happened to me again.

I was just too trusting and soft hearted... I shouldn't have given them the chance.

A Malaysian durian seller came to my doorstep promoting his durians. I asked him for the rate and how much each durian weighs. He said I'm not obliged to buy if I didn't like it. The rate he quoted was $9/kg and that each one weighs about 1-2kg.

He told me he would come down in another 30min time to get the fruits.

When he came, he brought another partner with him. He opened the first durian and let me take a seed to sample... I turned around and gave my toddler to eat and that was when he opened the second durian! It took place too fast! I didn't even have the chance to say STOP! And then he just dropped both opened durians inside the brown bag and weighed... said it was 6.8kg and quoted me 60 odd dollars. I was shocked! They even said my neighbor upstairs bought from them too at 3 for $108.

The first guy told the partner to just quote me $60 since I was their last customer. I was reluctant. How can 2 durians cost me $60 ?! I didn't think much then and I was all alone in the house tending to my child. I just wanted them to leave. I had their 'namecard' so that I could call them for enquiries.

I opened the door and the partner just put the bag on the floor. I didn't get to hold it to feel if it was really 6.8kg. It was when they left, and then I carried it then I realized... it's not even 5kg. I know how heavy a 5kg pack of rice feels so when I lifted this bag up, I knew I was cheated.

I even used my home weighing machine to weigh it... see, it's not even 3kg.

These guys are really atrocious.

I texted my neighbor and she said she paid 3 for $40!!!! Why did they tell me it was 3 for $100?! I should have called her up when they said they had just sold durians to them. Argh.

I felt really bad for 'wasting' my husband's hard earned money. The iphone was a very bad lesson and now this is another one.

That's all because I was too trusting. Now I am very wary of strangers.

And what did I do after realizing that I was cheated? I quickly dialed the number up but THERE WASN'T SUCH A NUMBER!

I even carried my child down to the carpark and see if they were still around. I had the courage to confront them since I had all the facts and evidence that they were liars.

But... alas... they were gone too soon. Tch.

It's because of people like them who make this society a less pleasant place to be in. Shame on you.

(The first guy is slightly plump, claims to be from Yong Peng and it was his grandma who plants durian trees. He seemed sincere in conversations. The partner looks like an ah beng, short hair and is about 1.70m tall. He's of a slim build and is shrewd at doing business talk)

Recap on 29 Jun 2013

After the nightmare of my life, my lovely girl friends took me out on separate occasions!

One girlfriend brought me to lunch at Sakae Sushi as my belated birthday meal! :D I feel so loved!

We didn't take pics of our food... and ended up talking a lot.. just lots of girly stuff. LOL.

When I got home, I received a collage that she did ... and I was like so ... O.O WHAT IS THIS!?

With an extra character in the middle. LOL.

I've got more flesh .. whereas my gf seems to have a sharper chin.

Anyway, what shocks me the most is the Year she added at the bottom left of the pictures.

Are you sure it's been that long!? - That's what was spinning in my head when I received this on my phone.

Thank you my labu for showering me with love and concern when things struck me most. :D Oh, and the sushi was oiishiiiii!

And at night another couple of friends treated me to Bijin Nabe! The highly raved Japanese restaurant. We had to Q 1 hour in advance.

And this is free when you are promoted!
The waitress cooks your food for a start

my gf screamed in horror. (no lah, she didn't but her face was O>O)
I was asked to take this picture.. the After picture.

Thank you guys for treating me to such awesome food for my birthday! I am really very blessed. I hope you guys be healthy and safe!

iPhone Saga

And it wasn't a good thing.

This happened on 27 Jun 2013.

A night earlier I dropped my iPhone when I stood up from my seat and the front LCD shattered. The protective film was holding everything together. I decided to head to Sim Lim Square where a local blogger blogged about his somewhat-good repair service.

We left my phone there while we walked all over the place trying to find a durable casing. We waited for more than his 30min and when we went back to him 1.5hr later... he told us that my phone could not display the contents on the screen. He did everything he could... from changing the screen back to my old one and system restore and whatsoever. It just wouldn't work. There's still the charging sound and vibration. Ivan suggested I should leave the phone with him for him to further work on it.

And... I didn't have any phone with me. No communication. And I desperately needed a phone (for the upcoming activities). At this time.. we were both very tired.

3 hours after we reached Sim Lim we had to decide what should we do. We were totally exhausted from all the walking to and fro.

My husband said we should just get a new phone and bill it to him as he indirectly caused my phone to shatter. :(  I didn't want to waste any more time, ok, let's go.

So we went around looking for good deals. Our first stop was at Song Brothers as we got our tok gong 4S Otter casing from them. A staff quoted 950$ .. and off we went to another store... $870... And finally the third one, $700. TAKE!

My husband went in and asked if there were any more fees to pay for apart from the 700$. Kim from Games Industries LLP said NO. All we had to do was to pay in CASH. Off we go to withdraw the 700
$... and I requested I want to see if there was any cosmetic flaws with it else I won't buy... and he said if he had to open the box we have to pay up the money first. And since he already said there's no additional charges we went ahead.

The phone was looking good... until I asked my husband to switch on the phone to check for dead pixels. He said he couldn't. I went .... huh?

Kim said "You have to let me activate the phone first... and before you can do that you have to pay the unlock charges."   WTF. I know we totally confirmed got conned by this shop.

Since when do Apple phones need to be unlocked and activated and consumers have to pay for it? It's just a plug and play phone! (SIM card is all you need)

He claimed that OTHER shops were doing the same thing.. so we asked. Song Brothers and Nuubox said no. Everything there is NETT-priced, consumers DO NOT NEED to pay unlocking charges.

That's when I realize.. I should always go back to the first shop that I patronise.

We felt helpless... all we wanted was a working iphone for me. And we ended up paying MORE for charges that shouldn't be there. We are very disappointed with such humanity. Yes, we were angry initially... but now, we we are ultra disappointed. Singaporeans cheating their own people.. or rather, humans cheating their own for greed.

At this point of time... 5 hours after reaching Sim Lim, I am totally exasperated.. I didn't have lunch and it was 7pm +

They even said it was a BRAND NEW phone, but apparently it wasn't. My colleague checked the IMEI number and said it was long registered in Jan 2013. WHAT?!!!!!! This is easily under the Lemon Law in Singapore!

The shop is highly evasive of confrontations... I knew it's useless to go to them head on. We will submit this dishonest vendor to CASE, Small Claims and Apple.

After we collected my new iphone we went for dinner... but I was already worrying.... whether the form I filled up earlier (they claim they will send the form to Apple for the unlocking features) would be misused. And they didn't give us a RECEIPT! Plus I didn't see them logging my apple ID out of their laptop! My backup too! My husband went back to oversee them logging out my ID on their laptop and also get the receipt. And the deletion of backup as well.

I broke down over dinner... I was so tired and am so afraid my details would be misused (like for loansharks, paying something electronically). I called up my good friends to quickly help me change my pass word and it was only then that I sighed relief.

And the time when we got home? It was 11pm.... Can you imagine the frustration and fear and the long wait we went through? It was certainly the darkest day of my life.

And 4 days later, we took back my spoilt 4S and this issue was solved just by paying a fee to my telco for a 1-to-1 exchange. T_T" We should have just went to my telco immediately when the technician said he couldn't start up my phone there and then... and this would saves us of the heart ache! And now I wouldn't be stranded with 2 phones now...

In case you are wondering how much I paid for the new phone at the 'black' shop.. it was 700$ + $532 (unlocking charges) Much much higher than what Apple is selling....

FYI, I did go to CASE for advice and we will soon report this shop.

(The above is my opinion of this shop that misleads consumers)
